Gardening in winters is a real challenge. But there are plants that do not need much sunlight. Many of the flowering shrubs such as- azaleas, camellias, gardenias and hydrangeas, prefer some shaded and damp environment to grow.
The plants like bush blueberry, passionflower vine, winterberry and smilax vine, they all do not need much of sunlight. To this list I will also like to add wild flowers, including toad lily, spidewort, lyre-leaf sage and saxifrage stolonifera.
Gardeners can grow these varieties of shrubs and plants in their garden during winter season. This will not give their garden an empty and wild look even during winters.
