The “corpse flower” or amorphophallus titanium is a dweller of the equatorial rain forests of Sumatra, where pollinated by carrion and its foul aroma attracts dung beetles. It first bloomed in US in 1937 at NY Botanical Garden.
Two weeks back A Rare Corpse Flower started blooming at Lakeport in New Hampshire. The flower is nicknamed as ‘Tilly’ the Titan. If you wish to admire the magnificence of flower and smell the pungent odor of decaying flesh then do not waste a day to visit the Lakeport Fire Station. You can view this flower after paying an entry fee of $10.
It weighs as much as 170 pounds. It can reach nine feet in height and open to a diameter of three or four feet. The plant blooms rarely and then for just three to five days.
From the majesty of flower, we can approve of natures’ grandeur!
