Now, your lawn won’t be sad in any season and you will see it smiling in lush green always, as scientists have identified a gene which will be used by the breeders to make lawns stay green in any season.

Actually, an International team of researchers reported that they have traced a DNA mutation from the grass species festuca. This helped the plant to maintain its Chlorophyll.

The new gene is called ‘Staygreen’, which will keep an array of plants lush in your garden. I think who all would not like to see there garden always lively!

I would like to thank Dr Ian Armstead (the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research in Aberystwyth, North Wales) and his team for finding out such a remedy to gain perfect lawn.

“Staygreen from festuca has already been incorporated into amenity grass mixtures such as ’so-green’ to improve their year round performance,” said Dr Armstead. “Identifying the gene and developing molecular markers makes the breeding of these grasses more efficient.”

If you do not have a lawn but owns fields then also ’staygreen’ will be helpful to you for ripening of your crops.

With urbanization, it is very difficult for everyone to own a garden or lawn in cities. Either there is no space or such house is very expensive.

However, Toyota Roof Garden of Japan will help you to own a lawn on your roof. They have developed grass mats that come in 20-inch squares specially designed to go on your roof. They are slow growth, which means they only need to be cut once a year and they have built-in irrigation holes so watering them is a snap. Simply lay out the squares how you want and voila, you have a lawn. In addition to looking nice, having a lawn on your roof provides insulation, which should cut down on your energy costs. They are selling the roof grass for about $43 for every 10 square feet.

Now you can take a bare feet walk in the morning on your lawn and increase your eyesight.

Wow! You just have to look at the above the pics to get the hang of what the children are doing? It is lasagna gardening or call it mulching. The children have gathered in the name of lasgana for weeding a patch of land and mulching them for summer.

The whole technique of lasagna gardening is based on weeding and creating rich black soil on site. This technique involves everything that depicts the layers of lasagna.

Lasagna Gardening involves the following:

1. Marking out the patch for creating rich fertile soil.

2. Covering the patch and edges with newspaper.

3. Layering the patch with peat moss.

4. Covering peat moss with humus.

5. Topping it wooden chip mulch.

Then you know what you are going to get in the soil to grow all the lasagna ingredients.
